Blanket Care Guide

🖤 Blanket Care Guide

Keep Your House of O & A Blanket Soft, Cosy & Beautiful

Your blanket was made for late nights, lazy mornings, movie marathons and questionable life choices.

With a little care, you can keep it looking gorgeous and feeling ridiculously soft for a long time.

🧺 Washing

Before washing:
Always check the care label on your individual blanket first.

For most of our soft polyester, fleece, sherpa and plush blankets:

  • Machine wash on a gentle or delicate cycle.

  • Use cold or cool water.

  • Wash your blanket separately where possible.

  • Use a small amount of mild laundry detergent.

  • Avoid overloading the washing machine — your blanket needs room to move.

  • For heavily soiled areas, gently spot-treat before washing.

🖤 Please Avoid

  • ❌ Bleach

  • ❌ Harsh stain removers

  • ❌ Fabric softeners

  • ❌ Very hot water

  • ❌ Aggressive washing cycles

  • ❌ High heat

Fabric softeners can reduce the fluffy feel of some fleece and sherpa fabrics, while excessive heat can damage synthetic fibres.

🌬️ Drying

This is where the magic happens.

Air drying is the gentlest option.

  • Gently remove excess water after washing.

  • Do not wring or twist the blanket.

  • Lay or hang it to dry in a well-ventilated area.

  • Keep it away from direct, intense heat and prolonged harsh sunlight.

  • Make sure the blanket is completely dry before storing.

If the care label allows tumble drying, use the lowest heat setting possible. High temperatures can affect the softness and texture of synthetic fibres.

✨ Keeping That Fluffy Feeling

Sherpa and plush fabrics can naturally become flattened with use.

Once your blanket is dry:

Give it a gentle shake.
Smooth the fibres with your hands.
For sherpa-style fabrics, a soft-bristled brush can gently lift flattened fibres.

Avoid aggressive brushing, which can damage delicate fibres.

🐾 Pet Hair & Everyday Life

We love pets.

Your blanket may not feel quite the same way.

For loose pet hair, lint and fluff, gently shake the blanket outdoors or use a lint roller before washing. Removing loose debris first helps keep your washing machine — and your blanket — happier.

🖤 Stains & Spills

Spilled coffee?
Dropped snacks?
Mysterious midnight creature residue?

Deal with stains as soon as possible.

Blot gently with a clean cloth rather than rubbing aggressively. Use a small amount of mild detergent and cool water to spot-treat the affected area, then wash according to the care label.

Always test any cleaning method on a small, inconspicuous area first.

🕯️ Storing Your Blanket

Before putting your blanket away:

  1. Make sure it is completely dry.

  2. Fold it loosely rather than compressing it for long periods.

  3. Store it somewhere cool, dry and well ventilated.

  4. Keep it away from prolonged direct sunlight.

A dry blanket is a happy blanket. A damp blanket is how the haunting begins.

🖤 The Golden Rules

Wash gently.
Keep the temperature low.
Skip the fabric softener.
Avoid bleach.
Avoid high heat.
Dry thoroughly.
Treat it with the same respect you'd give a beloved gothic relic.

A Little Love Goes a Long Way

Your House of O & A blanket is designed to bring comfort, warmth and a little darkness into your space.

Treat it kindly, and it should stay soft, cosy and beautiful for many nights to come.

Stay cosy. Stay strange. 🖤
